I took this photo of the old Victorian fireplace in our living room using the "Zooming Technique".

Most photographers probably take methods like this for granted, but I am still learning. One by one I am adding the skills to my toolbox. Helping me is the book called The A-Z of Creative Photography by Lee Frost.

Don't let the fact that I am zooming make you think I am at the end of the book. I am reading the pages at random and having fun at the same time as learning ;o)

1/10s f5.6 ISO200 (on my new tripod) whilst zooming from 18 to 55mm on the Canon EOS 300D standard kit lens.

Adds a sense of motion to these pics in some cases, and a sense of depth in others. Interesting technique... but I agree, it can be over used. I think the trick with this is to pick the right subjects.
