The building you can see set in to the cliffs is
Marsden Grotto. What was once a simple smuggler's cave, as far back as the 18th century, is now a pub and restaurant. Access is via the lift-shaft you can see or there are some stairs for the more energetic.
A Cokin Gradual Grey filter was used to avoid over-exposing the sky. Apparently this is a standard trick of the landscape photographer.

Jake, It's my best friend's 30th birthday at the end of January. I'm trying my best to find a picture of the Marsden Grotto to get framed as a present. My friend's dad used to work there as a chef in the restaurant. He passed away in 1993.I know it would mean so much to her if I got a framed picture. Ideally I would like a picture that was taken back then - but I do like this picture taken in 2004. Would you happen to know if it has changed very much?
