Every city has its iconic landmarks. Most of you will know this is Newcastle, England, just from looking at the bridges. Although you might be forgiven for thinking the bridge in the background belongs in
Sydney Harbour (Note: Newcastle's was opened first but, Sydney's was
designed first).
The trouble with photographing a city's icons is that there's nothing original about it. Last night I spent an hour or two down on Newastle Quayside with my tripod and newly acquired cable-release. I saw four others with tripods, all pointing at the same thing. On the way back to the car I managed to find a different shot. I had parked next to a building site and caught the reflection of the new
"blinking eye" bridge in this puddle.
There are some much more typical shots of the bridge to follow. As I've said before I'm not afraid of clichés!
