Newcastle\'s Landmarks
Newcastle's Landmarks June 07, 2004
Here are four of Newcastle's better-known landmarks. The brick building on the left is an old flour mill and now the Baltic "art" museum. To its right, the glass, dome-shaped building is the new Sage music hall. To their right is the "blinking eye" Millenium Bridge, through which you can see the Tyne Bridge.

I list them here so I can link back to this photo and put each one in context. I've got quite a few individual shots of the Sage and the Millenium Bridge. Now you'll at least know what and where they are.

Here's an interesting page on the history of bridges on the Tyne.

Note: The River Tyne separates two cities. I am taking this photo from Newcastle and looking over to Gateshead. The museum and music hall are both in Gateshead. Even the "blinking eye" bridge is called the Gateshead Millenium Bridge. So, really, this post should be called Gateshead Landmarks. I knew this but chose to ignore it. When I see this image I don't think Gateshead, I think Newcastle. Sorry.

Very nice. Almost looks more like a painting than a photo.
