Sage Gateshead
Sage Gateshead June 26, 2004
Newcastle has a bridge that is almost as iconic as its counterpart in Sydney. Now it has this - the Sage Gateshead - a music hall that could rival the Sydney Opera House for it iconicity.

This is what happens when you cross-process the original shot, shown below. I'm sure cross-processing doesn't work for all shots but I like the effect it's had here. In the original the polarising filter had already brought out the colours in the blue glass roof. This just exaggerates it. Lovely.

Sage Gateshead

Thank you Mike for pointing us all to the Photoshop action that makes this possible for the likes of me. Sometimes I prefer to understand techniques like this rather than simply press a button. For now though I will plead ignorant and simply enjoy the result instead.

Hi Jake, no problem, although you have to be careful with such actions it's easy to over use them. Cross processing is an odd one and doesn't always suit, I actually prefer your original because the nice blue tones are a bit lost with the cross-processing, as I said in the original post these actions can be a bit "harsh".

WOW this cross processing worked beautifully on this photo. Well Done

Just to be picky...Sage Gateshead is in Gateshead, not Newcastle. They're different cities.
